Elonor's Peony Care Guide
Thank you for purchasing British peonies from The Peony Farmer. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy growing them. Each stem has been personally selected and hand-cut from the field to ensure you receive the very best of this year’s harvest.
Peonies are a true seasonal luxury, and with a little care, they will reward you with beautiful, long-lasting blooms. To get the most out of your peonies, I recommend following these simple care instructions:
- Trim approximately 1 inch (2–3 cm) off the bottom of each stem at an angle before placing them in water. This helps the stems absorb water more effectively.
- Remove any foliage that would sit below the waterline to keep the water clean. Place your peonies in a large, clean vase filled with fresh water.
- Keep them in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, radiators, and draughts to prolong their vase life.
- Change the water every 2–3 days and give the stems a fresh trim to keep them hydrated.
Don’t worry if your peonies look slightly dehydrated or the buds feel firm on arrival, this is completely normal. They are carefully stored in this state to maximise their vase life and ensure you can enjoy them for longer.
Once placed in water, you should notice the buds beginning to soften and open within a few hours. Over the next couple of days, they will gradually unfurl into full, luxurious blooms.
Peonies are delicate but incredibly rewarding flowers, and each bloom is unique. Take time to enjoy their changing shapes, colours, and fragrance as they develop.
Enjoy your peonies,
Elonor
